GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden over his foreign policy following the deaths of three American servicemembers and the wounding of more than two dozen others in a drone attack.
“The drone attack on a U.S. Military Installation in Jordan, killing 3 American Servicemembers, and wounding many more, marks a horrible day for America. My most profound sympathies go to the Families of the Brave Servicemembers we have lost. I ask all Americans to join me in praying for those who have been wounded,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“This brazen attack on the United States is yet another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender,” he noted further.
The former president compared his administration’s policy toward Iran to the application of maximum pressure aimed at depriving Iran of funds for potential attacks against U.S. troops. Additionally, Trump issued a warning to Iranian forces, cautioning them not to harass U.S. ships in the Arabian Gulf. He also ordered a military strike that resulted in the killing of Qasem Soleimani, the leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force, who was held responsible for attacks against U.S. troops.
“Three years ago, Iran was weak, broke, and totally under control. Thanks to my Maximum Pressure policy, the Iranian Regime could barely scrape two dollars together to fund their terrorist proxies. Then Joe Biden came in and gave Iran billions of dollars, which the Regime has used to spread bloodshed and carnage throughout the Middle East,” Trump wrote.
“This attack would NEVER have happened if I was President, not even a chance – Just like the Iranian-backed Hamas attack on Israel would never have happened, the War in Ukraine would never have happened, and we would right now have Peace throughout the World. Instead, we are on the brink of World War 3,” he said.
“This terrible day is yet more proof that we need an immediate return to PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, so that there will be no more chaos, no more destruction, and no more loss of precious American lives. Our Country cannot survive with Joe Biden as Commander in Chief,” Trump noted further.
Over the weekend, the former president, who is the likely nominee of the Republican Party, issued a direct challenge to the man who replaced him.
At a campaign rally this weekend, the former president did not mention President Biden by name but said that every presidential candidate should have to take a cognitive test to see if they can handle the job of the presidency.
“I really believe it’s important,” the former president said. “I don’t know. They say it’s not constitutional. I don’t know why. They say it’s not constitutional to take an aptitude or cognitive test, but I think anybody running for president — that includes vice president and maybe even some other positions — I think taking certain tests … would be a good thing, personally. Not based on age, I don’t care if you’re 35 years old, but we want intelligent people. Now, that’s not a pure sign of intelligence, but we want people that are intelligent.”
“Only about 2% in this room can do it, but I did it,” he said. “I did it very easily, but I got mocked. They said, ‘Oh, that’s so easy.’ It’s not easy. It’s not easy — go home and try doing it, OK?”
“You would be amazed at how many people would fail it,” he said. “How do you think he’d do on a test? He might not get that first question right.”
He then brought his attention to the issues at the southwestern border.
“When I’m president, instead of trying to send Texas a restraining order, I will send them reinforcements,” Trump told supporters at Big League Dreams sports park in Las Vegas, Newsmax reported.
